Mad Aussie Dave's weather was cursed
by Grant
Our Down-under buddy Dave from Aussie land
has just had his first fishing competition
of the season & heres what he said -
Hi Fellas, The comp has been and gone, only
placed 84 out of about 140 with about ten
teams not recording a fish for three days
fishing. Grant's weather curses must be
a bit erratic over distance. Day 1 was a
shocker with 25knot + northerly for the
morning - with an almost immediate swing
to the south east and increased wind speed
at lunch time. Day 2 was good in the morning,
the afternoon was galeforce northely and
day 3 started at about 10 knots and got
to 25+ by finish. For most of the time wind
was against the tide, in all we covered
about 120 miles on the water in my boat
and struggled to find fish.
Many of the competitors recording their
worst result ever. Over 3000 fish were caught
and released over the 3 days of the competition.
The boat has been running great and I have
absolute faith in it, I got my first mangrove
jack of the season two weeks ago and missed
two at the comp. One beast broke me off
on 30 pound test line - not bad for an estuary
species, my fishing partner missed the other
and sat ther with a stunned look on his
face at the sheer speed and ferocity of
the buggars.
